Comment se déplacer à Nice comme un local ?

How to get around Nice like a local?

Mathis Renaut

Nice is a very pleasant city to explore, but it's best to know the best ways to avoid the tourist traps. Here's how to get around Nice like a local , without breaking the bank or wasting time.

1. The tram: fast, clean, efficient

Three lines run through the city, including Line 2, which connects the airport directly to the city center. This is the most convenient way to reach Masséna, Jean Médecin, or the port.

2. The bus: to go further

Slower but very useful for getting out of the city center. Perfect for going to Villefranche-sur-Mer, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat or to the higher ground (Cimiez, Gairaut).

3. On foot: the best way to experience the city

The city center is quite compact. From Old Nice to the Promenade, including the Coulée Verte, everything is within walking distance. A leisurely stroll, narrow streets, and colorful facades create a 100% Niçois vibe.

4. Bicycle and electric scooter

The e-VéloBleu app allows you to rent electric bikes. There are also plenty of self-service scooters (Tier, Dott, etc.). Beware of restricted areas.

5. By car? Really not necessary

Between the one-way signs, narrow streets, and expensive parking, driving is a no-go in Nice. Save it for excursions outside the city.

6. By train to visit the surrounding area

Want to go to Monaco, Cannes, or Antibes? The TER train is super convenient and inexpensive. The train station is right in the center.

7. Our local tips

• Take a 10-journey pass (€10) for the tram/bus

• Avoid rush hour (8am–9:30am and 5pm–7pm)

• When going out in the evening, travel on foot or in groups for greater safety.
